Does anyone know of a decent comprehensive book or books about the Plains Indian Wars?  I have a good idea about the Battle of the Little Big Horn, but there was a lot more going on that in a macabre way facinates me.

How far back does your geneology records go back? The reason you are
interested as you might have been there at that time. You might have
better success going to historical sites on-line than finding a book.
The geneology websites seem to have a lot of connections to "well
known historical events".

I read the latest biography on Custer and his last stand. It was very good and gave a decent account not just about the battle, but the plains war in general.

I don't know about that but there's a bunch of interesting books and history about the Ohio country, Tecumseh, and the Northwest Territory.

I'm interested; let us know what comes up in the net.  My Indian blood is very thin; maybe with an eastern tribe.

Custer wrote an interesting book about the plains, but his writing career was cut a bit short.  For a guy who graduated last in his class, he was a superb writer.

There is a fictional biography of Major Reno that was enjoyable.  Custer's widow unfairly hated him.

Wasn't Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee by Dee Brown kind of the defining tome?

The book I read described the methods used to eliminate the Indians. Attack the villages in order to bring in the warriors to slaughter. Very brutal and used genocide as a method.
