Looking at newspaper clipping of what the recently passed

Initiative 502 means right now which would pertain to me

starting Dec 6th, is that I cant smoke pot or eat it in public

and less than an ounce in my home is no longer a crime.

Lots more to the whole thing that will take 2013 to figure

out how you can buy it like a 5th of Jack Daniels. At the

very early stages of the "grand transformation" and I

have ringside seat.

Krink, do what any self-respecting smoker does; Grow your own. I believe that it's also legal for you, a private, law abiding citizen of Washington, ta grow, and possess, and process for personal use, six, or ten plants, and the by-products, an ounce at a time...with more 'on the vine.'

That makes it perfectly okay under state law, no matter what the Feds say! You obviously know all about starting 'plants' from seed...the rest is cake! The icing on that...all up ta you!

I'm gonna visit a naturopath, or a clinic for my 'green-card' so I too may enjoy legal consumption.

Risky that. 'Sides where could you live minutes away from tidewater, sandy warm beaches, beach bunnies, beach babes, beer..

And all the amenities of Vagina Beach? Nowhere else!

More info for Krink, although your county may be sitting on the sidelines observing the show...

220 marijuana cases dismissed in King, Pierce counties

UPDATE 3:03 p.m. King and Pierce County prosecutors are dismissing more than 220 misdemeanor marijuana cases in response to Tuesdays vote to decriminalize small amounts of pot.

In King County, 175 cases are being dismissed involving people 21 and older and possession of one ounce or less. I-502 makes one ounce of marijuana legal on Dec. 6, but King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg decided to apply I-502 retroactively.

Although the effective date of I-502 is not until December 6, there is no point in continuing to seek criminal penalties for conduct that will be legal next month, Satterberg said in a statement.

The dismissed cases involved arrests in unincorporated King County, as well as the state highways and the University of Washington. About 40 of the cases had already been filed in court as criminal charges; those charges will be dismissed. Another 135 cases were pending charging decisions and will simply be returned to the arresting police agency.

Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said he was dismissing about four dozen pending cases where misdemeanor marijuana was the only offense. He said his staff was continuing to prosecute other cases where possession was secondary to a more serious charge, such as drunken driving.

The people have spoken through this initiative, said Lindquist. And as a practical matter, I dont think you could sell a simple marijuana case to a jury after this initiative passed.

In an interview, Satterberg said his office would continue to prosecute marijuana possession above one ounce, allowing for a buffer for those whose scales are less than accurate. His office also charges felony possession for people with more than 40 grams although he said his staff routinely allows those defendants to plead down to a misdemeanor.

I think when the people voted to change the policy, they werent focused on when the effective date of the new policy would be. They spoke loudly and clearly that we should not treat small amounts of marijuana as an offense, he said.
I-502 campaign manager Alison Holcomb said she was incredibly moved by Satterbergs announcement, which she said showed incredible courage.

The decision supports a prime argument I-502 made during the campaign. A study by a group of academics found there had been 241,000 misdemeanor marijuana possession cases in Washington over the past 25 years, 67,000 of them in the past five years. If 502 hadnt passed, wed see the same amount of marijuana possession cases every year, she said. What makes a difference is changing the law.
Satterberg is the first prosecutor to change charging policy after I-502, but other prosecutors are also considering these cases. Tom McBride of the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys said his office just starting to work through those issues.

Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes has refused to prosecute misdemeanor possession cases since he took office.

Earlier this week, the chief criminal deputy prosecutor in Spokane County, Jack Driscoll, appeared to take a more conservative position. He told the Spokesman-Review that, even after Dec. 6, the only marijuana which was legal to possess was pot sold in the state-licensed stores called for in I-502. Those stores wont be created for at least a year.

The only thing that is legal is selling marijuana through those stores, Driscoll said. That will be regulated by the state. You cant under this initiative have an ounce of marijuana that doesnt come from a state-issued provider. You still cant have black-market marijuana.

Holcomb disputed that interpretation. So did Satterberg, who called it a very narrow reading of the initiative. I dont know how you trace where (the marijuana) comes from, he said.
Satterberg said he expected federal authorities to seek an injunction to block implementation of I-502s state licensing scheme for marijuana retailers and growers. I think its the kind of issue the U.S. Supreme Court will have a final word on, said Satterberg, calling it an an important states rights issue.
But he does not expect a federal lawsuit to target the types of cases he is dismissing, noting that states already have widely divergent penalties for marijuana possession.

Sooner or later though, they'll hafta agree that the county's lock-up has tu many non-violent felons occupying cells. Tying up the rest of the system, wasting time and resources prosecuting people who are caught with an ounce of weed, or a couple joints, is such a fuckin' waste!

Not ta mention it's just dumb! Pot smokers are pretty damn harmless as far as I can tell.

Meth users, producers, and addicts...now there's a bunch ya gotta worry over. That shit's poison, and it makes ya crazy, and do crazy shit... Like murder.  Killing for money, and just for shits and grins is all so common...

Law enforcement oughta make a distinction between simple pot possession, use...and crack, and meth use. The first group...mostly just partiers, music lovers...

That second group...real felons, and potential felons!

Shouldn't be a problem Uke. Getting one of those medical MJ cards isnt a

problem with the right doctor giving you the nod. The card may cost

you a couple hundred bucks and you need to renew every year. I haven't

yet to meet up with anyone who goes through getting MJ at a dispensery

and what kind of "experience" that is or the prices or how safe you feel

leaving the place. Thats the next big hurdle to resolve is "driving anywhere"

if you are a MJ user. Anybody that works for the railroad knows that MJ

can take a month to leave your system and any amount will show up

positive. To anyone who has smoked the shit will tell you the "buzz"

goes away by the hour to eventually "nada". You are fine the next day

just like after a night  of drinking. So I've been giving thought to

"establishing" an "THC intoxication level" to somehow match the

0.08 alcohol level to determine "intoxication or impairment". There

needs to be "cut-off point" to where having MJ in your system is not

considered a factor.

More local newspaper reading saying if and when a setup by the WA

State Liquor Control Board takes place, an oz of pot from them will

cost about $335 with all the fucking taxes. Today the best MJ ever

grown to date is lucky to fetch $2300 a LB because the middle class

aint working and who can afford this shit. Those that can afford

the shit have responsible jobs they want to hang-on to. With the

revelation of $330 an OZ prices, there are going to be more "unathorized

growers than ever". It a fucking mess with all kinds of outcomes.

It's not over, nope. Biggest issue as I see it...who will be allowed ta grow it? And how do 'they' propose ta control it, tax it, distribute it... I'm NOT concerned about it really. I'm not about ta spend $350 for an ounce of weed...

Being retired from the railroad, I'm certainly not concerned about piss tests, hair snipping, or being fired...

In other words, I don't seriously care what they do, or try ta do in Olympia. It's a huge can o' worms, and it's all their problem.

Dec. 6th. ain't that far off... After that, anybody's guess. But I'd bet that you'll see fewer arrests, and incarcerations for possession!

Snippy's lid is a funnel and he's traveled to OZ.

And, just between you and Snippy, he's caught a whiff or two of the good shit.
