At BurningJournaldotcom we don't call the holiday what everybody else calls it. Nope! Each member (whether in good standing, or not) seems ta have their own name for...you know.

The popular myth, perpetrated by the powers that be, mostly the Roman Catholic church's hierarchy in Rome, have ripped off Dec. 25th. as the birthday of Jeezuss... And called it Kersmuss. For some odd reason, the rest of the world never questioned any of that.

So it stands. In spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and historical data that point to many inaccuracies of the date of Jeezuss' exact birth date. Some even put his birth date as June, or July.

The December date... Oddly enough was a Pagan high-holy day, and may have been ripped off by Rome in their power-grab during their push for world domination. Then along comes Martin Luther, and the reformation... The Pope's words are no longer respected, or followed to the letter.

But Kersmuss, and the birth of Jeezuss stood the test of time, in spite of everything. And Kersmuss is the most popular excuse for everything else, especially gift-giving, Kersmuss trees, decorating yer house, reindeer, Sandy Clauws, stuppid carols, and that most annoying Kersmuss carol of all... "The Little Drummer Boy"!

I think working 26 years on the railroad put Christmas in
perspective for me. I had "5" Christmas's off during my career.
The other times I was working Xmas Eve, Xmas day, Xmas night,
and then repeat on New Years. Then place that "layer" over
all your Xmas "obligations" with your family and your wifes
family. In my case my family lives 60 miles away, her family
lives next door. So we make Xmas into an intense 2-day affair
with Xmas Eve with her family and then motor on up 60 miles
to a completely different venue on Xmas day. Christmas is a
"womans holiday" I think. They alway say "yes" to all the
shopping, and the decorating, and all the shit "dad" cant do.
Mrs Krink really got into Christmas. She lead the way and I
tried to keep up. I've probly done the best job ever in my
lifetime of "keeping Christmas out" of my life (on a daily basis)
until the day. Despite my knowledge of the whole myth and
the game that surrounds it, I'm still connected to it with the
several different families I am part of. Mrs Krinks family
hardcore Christians, my family...we could go all day without
talking about anything religious. Christmas should be included
with "Taxes and Death". Everybody looses money on the day.
No way past your childhood years (ages 1-18) will it ever
be "slanted in your favor" again. After that you will be spending
your own hard earned cash on others. It can get out of control
if you dont know what you're doing.

Kersmuss is damn near finished! Yep. It's the eve of Kersmuss in GPNW. About six hours from right now, right here, it'll be Kersmuss! The Day of that is! Hope everybody enjoys something good, especially for you parents of small ones.

After all, the whole thing is for the kiddos! The insanity, stupidity, and the rest of the mess... It's all yours!
