Wouldn't it indicate that he was still flying?
Not a stall. Nose down, trying to get air to keep flying, ran out of altitude.
Instinct is to pull up, pull up, pull up, and stall... and pancake the shit on the ground. Absence of fire makes an absence of fuel suspect.

Snippy, the 'amateur air crash picture tells a thousand stories' investigator, predicts the fatalities came from inside the cabin at the breakapart area.

Snippy, the 'amateur air crash picture tells a thousand stories' investigator, is a rank amateur, though. The pros already know what happened. This one will be easy.

Well not exactly Cyville, but in the general area...sort of!

2 killed when jet crashes in Indiana neighborhood

Tom Coyne, Associated Press9:12p.m. EDT March 17, 2013

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) A private jet apparently experiencing mechanical trouble crashed Sunday in a northern Indiana neighborhood, hitting three homes and killing two people aboard the plane, authorities and witnesses said.

The Beechcraft Premier I twin-jet had left Tulsa, Okla.'s Riverside Airport and crashed near South Bend Regional Airport, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig in Oklahoma City said. Two of four people aboard the plane were killed, Herwig said.

It was not clear if anyone on the ground was killed, and Herwig did not have any additional information.

South Bend Memorial Hospital spokeswoman Maggie Scroope said three people injured when the plane crashed were being treated there; one was in serious condition and two were in fair condition. Scoope did not know if they were on the plane or the ground.

The plane was registered to 7700 Enterprises of Montana LLC in Helena, Mont. The company is owned by Wes Caves and does business as DigiCut Systems in Tulsa, Okla. It makes window film and paint overlay for automobiles.

A woman identifying herself as Caves' wife answered the phone at their home Sunday and said, "I think he's dead," before hanging up.

In South Bend, Assistant Fire Chief John Corthier said the presence of jet fuel from the aircraft made the situation "very dangerous," Corthier said. The plane was lodged inside a house.

"It's still a rescue operation," Corthier said about three hours after the crash. Referring to one of the damaged houses, he said, "Because of the collapse in the house it's a very dangerous situation. We have to shore up the house before we can enter the house. "

Part of the neighborhood southwest of the airport was evacuated. Buses transported up to 200 people to a nearby shelter, Red Cross volunteer Jackie Lincoln said.

Mike Daigle, executive director of the St. Joseph County Airport Authority, said the jet attempted a landing, went back up and maneuvered south to try another landing, but eight minutes later the airport learned the plane was no longer airborne.

"There was an indication of a mechanical problem," Herwig said.

Stan Klaybor, who lives across the street from the crash scene, said the jet clipped the top of one house, heavily damaged a second, and finally came to rest against a third. Neighbors did not know if a woman living in the most heavily damaged house was home at the time, and a young boy in the third house did not appear to be seriously injured, Klaybor said.

"Her little boy was in the kitchen and he got nicked here," Klaybor said, pointing to his forehead.

His wife, Mary Jane, regularly watches planes approach the airport.

"I was looking out my picture window. The plane's coming, and I go, 'Wait a minute,' and then, boom," she said.

"This one was coming straight at my house. I went, 'Huh?' and then there was a big crash, and all the insulation went flying," she said.

What does the undamaged roof with the cockpit inside indicate for the photo accident investigator?

What, he missed the runway, misjudged the landing, ran out of fuel, nosed in a little too low?

Uke, not exactly Cyville.

We lost a local doctor a couple of years ago when he ran out of fuel about a block from the airport and hit a garage, killing him, his wife, and hurting his son. A few years earlier, he'd been in a similar plane crash that killed his wife and other children, where it was also determined that he ran out of fuel short of the airport. The son, who survived both crashes, is now the sole remaining family member. One wonders if he was an arrogant sort who thought he could do anything, even though evidence might indicate otherwise.

That it must suck to die in a plane crash when the plane is still left intact.

I remember that incident...and the son being the sole survivor from both tragedies. Damn... Heavy burden ta survive with. The son must ask himself why?, an awful lot!

And I know that today's incident wasn't exactly Cyville, as I said... But it was nearly enough for horseshoes, wasn't it?

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nearby homes are reportedly evacuated because of a subsequent gas leak

  • The private jet hit two homes and possibly damaged a third
  • It's unclear whether those killed and injured were on the plane or in the homes

(CNN) -- At least two people were killed and three others injured Sunday when a small plane crashed in South Bend, Indiana, a police captain said.

The private jet hit two homes and possibly damaged a third, said Capt. Phillip Trent with the South Bend Police Department. It was not immediately clear whether those killed and injured were on the plane or in the homes.

Nearby houses were evacuated because of a subsequent gas leak, CNN affiliate WNDU reported. Video from the affiliate showed emergency personnel on scene. The plane was still stuck in what looked to be a one-story home.

Among those injured, two are in fair condition and one is in serious condition, according to Maggie Scroope, spokeswoman at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, where the injured are being treated.

The plane's pilot radioed for help after experiencing problems with the technical equipment, WNDU reported, adding that a landing attempt failed.

The plane departed from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was inbound to South Bend Regional Airport, WNDU said.

The affiliate reported that the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to arrive Sunday night to investigate the crash.

No fire, no fuel, just like that Colombian jet that crashed on the East coast.

An hour longer flight time than planned, and another fifty five minutes on the ground after scheduled takeoff, so how much did he burn before takeoff???
