Okay so it got past us all, almost...

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. Many countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June, but it is also celebrated widely on other days. Father's Day was created to complement Mother's Day, a celebration that honors mothers and motherhood.

...and the apostrophe denotes a possessive, which says fathers own it. The day that is. It's an artificial holiday. Sorta.

Listening ta the radio, and watchin' TV you'd think nobody but father's invented parenting, and without fathers, there'd be no families. But according ta figures released lately by the Pew Research Institute, fully 40% of all families in the US are headed by a single woman. Only.

Father's Day. I was never close to my own father. His choice, not mine. I still miss my mother, but not my father, okay? And I don't miss him. At all. He died on December 24, 1971. Christmas Eve.

That was s'posed ta be a holiday. Christmas. It wasn't for me. Not then, not now... Not no more.
