He's still cool in my book! he's one of the best singer/songwriters of my generation, and that fucker can dance tu! He's still a bad ass! He plays stright up rock and roll without all the bullshit tricks and special effects from Hollyweird! Just good ol' American rock! I like him! (And I still like his babe Meg Ryan tu!)

"What happened to Meg Ryan?" People magazine asked two weeks ago, when it splashed the 51-year-old actress on its cover with the headline "WHY SHE REALLY LEFT HOLLYWOOD BEHIND." But from the look of things, Ryan appears just fine with her "new life," which means happily walking home with her boyfriend, John Mellencamp, after hitting the gym Monday afternoon in New York.

And it looks like Ryan is actually gearing up for a total Hollywood comeback. Deadline.com reported that Ryan has inked a deal to star and produce a pilot for NBC, based on a "single, devoted and desperately non-confrontational single mom" who returns to work at a New York publishing house only to discover her former 30-year-old former intern is now boss.

Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2008. The induction ceremony took place in New York City on March 10, 2008, and Mellencamp was inducted by his good friend Billy Joel, who asked Mellencamp to induct him into the Rock Hall back in 1999 (Mellencamp had to opt out because of another commitment, so Ray Charles inducted Joel). During his induction speech for Mellencamp, Joel said:[30]

Dont let this club membership change you, John. Stay ornery, stay mean. We need you to be pissed off, and restless, because no matter what they tell uswe know, this country is going to hell in a handcart. This countrys been hijacked. You know it and I know it. People are worried. People are scared, and people are angry. People need to hear a voice like yours thats out there to echo the discontent thats out there in the heartland. They dont care how they hear it, as long as they hear it good and loud and clear the way youve always been saying it all along. Youre right, John, this is still our country.

I saw John in concert a long time ago. It was the first $150 concert I ever saw, years before $150 a ticket was embraced by the industry. The show was ok, not $150 worth. What pissed me off was that he was asked about the high ticket prices, he responded with "If they don't like the price, they don't have to buy them."

Wow. Really? If the fans who financed your lifestyle don't like getting gouged, fuck'em?

Whoa... First time I saw him was after the "Cougar" tag was dropped, mighta been out here, in Portland, OR.
Friend had couple tickets, asked me... Maybe $45, or so! But not $150... I'd never pay that much ta see anybody!

But I still like him and his music. Count me as a fan regardless! But if I was at that concert with Blackie, I'da definitely mouthed off during the show about the price and the show!

Security probably woulda whisked me out the EXIT right quick if I stirred the shit...

Concert tickets are just like an auction.

Ya gotta figure out what its worth to you to pay.

Its like the Meecham auto auction where, say a 1970 LS4 Chevelle comes up on the block.

all original great shape, so ya pay 125 thousand for it.

Then ya go lookin at it and ya find some tears in the upholstery, the spare is dry rotted, and some of the gagues don't work.

You go back in and a similar car comes thru, in better shape..great upholstery, gages work...sells for 80 thousand.

Now ya gotta remember, in the heat of the moment, yer the one who put that big paw in the back pocket and gladly doled out the greenbacks.

Now that the hymen is broke, so ta speak, ya start noticing the defects.

Caveat emptor.

Now, Mr mellancamp is known to speak his mind. He wasn't hiding, he didn't jack the price up after the sale, the tickets were sold quite a few days or weeks before the concert.

Ying and yang. Some people there probably thought it was the best concert they had ever seen. Some went the other way. Ya cant please everyone.

I'm surprised actually that John was as nice as he was when asked. I would have expected worse.
