Protesters against coal and oil trains block tracks in Everett

Protesters against coal and oil trains block tracks in Everett
EVERETT, Wash. - About a dozen protesters have blocked railroad tracks at a Burlington Northern Santa Fe yard in Everett.

Railroad spokesman Gus Melonas* says some have chained themselves to the tracks. He says the demonstration that started about 6 a.m. Tuesday has blocked freight trains at the yard although the main line remains open.

Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell says officers are standing by. They'll let BNSF police handle the situation because it's a trespassing issue.

The demonstration was announced by the group Rising Tide Seattle to protest shipments of oil and coal by train and proposed terminals in the Northwest.

"We are protesting the use of our railroads for these dangerous fossil fuels, coal, oil and gas," said one protestor. "The transportation is reckless."

How many of those stupid fucks chaining themselves to the tracks know that yard engines are remote control and there is no one in the cab to see them.

I cant believe how stupid of a location the protesters chose
to "stop oil trains and coal trains. Actually they setup shop
at the north end of Delta Yard which did nothing..nothing.
The Oil and Coal trains passing thru Delta Yard do it via the
Marsh Tracks or Rogers Tracks way on the other side of the
yard. BNSF and all major railroads are hauling coal and oil
trains every day/night everywhere they serve. I dont think
this group of protesters have any "railroad background".
