musicians against Spotify have to accept streaming is 'final destination' for music industry, says Sony Music CEO

I quit buying music in 1994 because I realized I was

wasting money. Took a while for that to hit me.

I then went into taping music from free resources

like a great radio station. I've been into a 1000 record

stores and I have a 4K+ record collection. Then I

went hard for the CD's and spent a fortune every

month going out and buying them and thankfully that

ended at 1500 CD's. Maybe its getting older that I cant

keep up with the new ways people get their music.

Just know the whole music biz is a mess. The stuff

worth listening to today may be hard to find. Once

again you need a great radio station to guide you today.

Thats impressive really that I know (cyber) a musician that
has done just enough to be rewarded for life. Maybe you
should write a new song..a new smash hit. Maybe play
around with electronics and laptop computers for that
sound that will have "everybody on the dance floor".
Can I ask what tune/record is bringing this new revenue
to you in dimes and nickels?

I'm not sure it would be "rewarding" but I sold a tune many years ago. I get no claim tu it because they buy the tune and all rights however I get a small royalty for penning the tune. After the initial payment for the tune, they sent me about $300. Any residual claims are paid if the tune is played on the radio or live shows I guess. It's about .000001% of .00000001%.

When you sell tunes, they never tell you who bought them for what purpose. It could be the next big hit or used in a car commercial. As for me, I'll just have to keep showing up at 2LARRCO...

For many up and coming entertainers its been suggested to
keep your day job just incase things your dream doesnt
work out. But once a musician always a musician so you
may get a new idea some day that you want to share with
world. Are you younger than Willie Nelson?
