A 35-year-old man hit by a Portland Western train in the 18800 block of Southwest Boones Ferry Road survived the accident with scrapes and scratches, Tualatin police reported Saturday.

The man was conscious, alert and breathing when police and medical personnel found him about 11:30 p.m. Friday. He was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University with non-life threatening abrasions to his lower torso, according to a news release.

"It is unknown what the man was doing on the tracks and alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this incident," police wrote. "The tracks were cleared at around 1:30 am."

Portland & Western is owned by Gennesee & Wyoming. The Providence & Worcester is an independent outfit.

Cy's a little lacking in the OR-E-GON geography department, it was mere speculation that led Cy to those comments.  That and the P&W thing, which goes back on ***.

You DO realize that Uke oves the GPNW, don'tcha? Hence the reference to P&W should therefore be understood (and reading the nooz article) to mean Portland & Western Railroad. The BIG divider? That big ol' muddy river... East is east, west is west... Providence & Worcester is back east. Portland & Western is out west!

Nuff said!
