By chance, do you know if the Bridge Tender on Chambers bay/Bridge 14 is a Clerk or a Bridge & Building flunky?

I thought that the N&W was the only one like that. We have two bridges that are/were B&B and two that are/were TCU/BRAC....

They automated one of each and then did the second one with a clerk. I believe there is one B&B drawspan left. Best job on the railroad -- one yard transfer a day. Do it and go home. Strange that wasn't the first one to be gone.

How you doing Iron Chink. Quite certain the bridgetender at "West Tacoma" was B&B as they
operate all but one bridge in the state of WA. The one they don't operate but fix all the time is
BR37 in Everett. I worked there for 15yrs as a opr/bridgetender. The employees working at BR37
came from the clerks/oprs and I think it still is. A few years back the BNSF North Branch Dispr took
control of the Delta Jct interlocking which was one of the BR37 opr/bridgetender duties. Still the
opr/bridgetender is doing sort of like always like hooping up new GTB's whenever needed but the
job seems "lessened" without having to run the interlocking at Delta Jct. They told me 20yrs ago
that the clerks/oprs will run this bridge as its "etched in stone".

Mr Krink..  The Ballard drawbridge outside the locks is operated by Electricans but administered

by the B&B..  Has been operated by people out of the roundhouse for quite some time.. Payroll

and management comes from B&B..  If a opening comes up and no electrican bids on the position

then the junior man can be forced, but that hasn't occurred recently as it can be rebullitaned and

a BB man can fill it but is required too join our Union..

Think I remember something to that nature of electricians working BR 4 Ballard. Never
been to it just know its got to be a busy job. So to continue "Washington the state of this
time" the Rocky Mountaineer special deluxe passenger train runs from Seattle to Vancouver BC
on Saturdays. Its on my bucket list to get a picture of this train as every Saturday I got a chance
during the summer. This Saturday I sort of forgot that it could be running while I made my
decision to stay home and watch NASCAR I hear on the railroad scanner the Rocky Mountaineer
is running but its a hot afternoon and don't want to chase it today. So once I decide to stay home
I turn off the scanner in the house because I don't want to know what I missed. 20 minutes later
I head for the garage for a smoke and my scanner in the garage has the BNSF North Branch talking
with Rocky Mountaineer asking if the train was still on the tracks and if the crew was doing OK.
They hit something and police and fire were present. Don't hear what they hit or where for a few
hours. So the Rocky Mountaineer coming down English Hill at 60MPH and probly not making any
sound at all when they hit the corner going into Silvana where there is a very popular bridge
crossing the Stillaguamish River where young people gather at the river banks in hot weather.
Took a while to figure just what happened until 11PM TV news which had a very short report
stating that a 18yr old girl was on the bridge and the Rocky Mountaineer hit and kilt her.
Train traffic on the BNSF Bellingham Sub frozen in time for over 4hrs. The Rocky Mountaineer
got into Vancouver atleast 4hrs late or more. More on this story maybe.

Thought it was interesting that every news source so far has said it was an AMTK train
that hit the 18yr old girl at Silvana. But it was the Rocky Mountaineer luxury passenger
train northbound to Vancouver BC. That would be your Sun oppose Pluto trip on a luxury
passenger train. Arrive in Vancouver BC knowing your train took a life today...an 18yr old girl.
She was where she shouldnt be and nobody could do a thing to prevent it.

Dead is dead. Nothing more'n that. The planets, stars and shit really don't give a fuck one way or another. Whether or not this girl was there, or someplace else, it was her time ta go. Sadly the crew woulda been traumatized tu! So it goes...
