Just what you dint want to happen is an oil train derailment on the BNSF Denver-Chicago
ex-CBQ line through Iowa at a place called "Doon". And as one TO member posted "it had
to happen over water". There is 30 tankcars accordian in the middle of the river and leaking.
Flash flooding going on at the time and it appears to have everything to do with this derailment.
The weather keeps getting more intense as rainfalls can be 3-6" an hour rates and creating
flooding in a matter of minutes and hard to know just where. The oil trains have had a good
run of safety lately and now the "Huge Big Ugly Issue" of oil trains will be in the news again and
the full history of oil train derailments going back to Quebec. So this oil train derailment happens
with the celestial assistance of Venus oppose Mars/Mercury oppose Pluto. What a mess to cleanup.

Thankfully I get to correct my mistake on which BNSF line this oil train derailment happened
on as its not the Chicago-Denver CBQ line but the ex-GN line from the Twin-Cities to Sioux City
where it ended but connected with many railroads there. Just guessing its a TWC route with maybe
a dozen trains a first guess. Just last night I was looking at the current system maps of all the big
railroads to see any changes and it was interesting. So CP Rail bought the DME and the ICE not long
ago so they got route into Chicago from Sioux City to ship oil trains from Canada/Alberta on the BNSF
from the border to Sioux City where it would go east on the "new CP Rail" to Chicago or where ever
this oil was going which will be known if it matters. I guess looking at the aerial views its easy to see
that this stretch of track running through farmland that a breach of some kind was going to happen
any second. Think it was still dark at the time of the derailment. This line probly has one track inspector
make a run each day. Not sure of issued warnings to BNSF trains if any of the flooding possibilities.

I cant read pg 3 of TO on this derailment so maybe much more is known now.

Some very nasty tar sands crude. Almost as thick as tar, viscosity is off normal charts for oil. Gonna be one hell of an expensive (For 2LARRCO) and Uncle Warren's outfit. He won't miss a red cent no matter the end result.

Likely destined to a Gulf Coast refinery, where they cook that crap down into gasoline, diesel, lube oils, greases, and of course asphalt (tar)! Crude breaks down lighter products, then heavier, and so on...

I'm still surprised this oil train derailment isn't all over the news but a person has to search
the net to even find out about it. A low profile oil derailment. Maybe because Doon IA is in
really sparse population or no population. Local impacts are huge. Nation wide impacts none.

So to keep up the celestial weather and railroading on Tehachapi Pass recently had a "stringline"
derailment of 13 cars shutdown things. Guess they got yanked right off the rails without hurting
the track much. Trains already running.

Sunday late afternoon on the BNSF Scenic Sub at MP 12.7 a little north of Seattle a trespasser was
kilt by a freight train. A hard to access area and the investigation took a long time and bunch of
WB trains died too as they could go any further.

CSX puts 20 cars of coal on the ground in St Albans WV early Wednesday morning.
Celestial "help" comes from Venus square Jupiter and a more powerful Sun oppose
Saturn. For the next two months we can add "Mars Retrograde" to every rail incident
starting with this one.

This article showed up in the nooz feeder thing on my 'home' page. Interesting perspective on a topic we've been acquainted with for a long time. Intimately acquainted in fact; https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/train-yard-photos-1960s

A laborer/hosteler helper friend related the story of his dad's death in the Balmer Yard while working together in 2003. His dad was a carman, doing a routine 'thousand mile' inspecion of an yarded train. The crew made a cut, and doubled their train into an adjacent track.

His dad was coupled between two cars somehow. The guy still had plenty of questions. While we worked for BN, not the merged outfit BN became. Both of us were hired on long before... His dad was GN, and never missed a day of work till that shift. His mom received a large settlement from BN. The kids still missed their pop nonetheless.

I guess railroading is a disease. Some develop immunity, some are exposed and are infected, and never break the spell... When I asked why he hired on at BN, he said "Why not? The old man loved it, and his stories got to me, so I guess they got me now!"

I guess that's as good as it gets!

It's dangerous flagging road crossings, we all know that, and it was proven again this morning in the Detroit area:

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A train conductor is seriously injured following a crash Thursday on railroad tracks between Mound and Van Dyke at 15 Mile Road.

Hard to tell the RR. The blue sign kind of looks like it says "Lake Division" on it in part. The big Chrysler plant is right there....

Must be the shared assets, or else the Detroit Free Press hasn't gotten in on the latest info.

A Conrail train conductor was seriously hurt Thursday after being hit by a car after stopping the train to fix a stuck crossing gate at 15 Mile Road, Sterling Heights Police said.

Also, looking at the 2014 street view made this much easier:

Early Thursday morning July 5 a 25-car derailment on the ex-SOU NS main to Birmingham
at Pell City Alabama. Mercury oppose Mars minutes from exact. Always seems to be celestial
weather around derailments.

UP Z-train derailed at 70mph near Tuscan AZ and 40-45 cars derailed most of which
looks like UPS vans on trailers and many have spilt the goods. Once again flash-flooding
and some heavy weather was enough to make the Sunset Route wash-out . Similar deal
with the Doon Iowa oil train derailment with flash flooding being the problem. The weather
in AZ has made the weather headlines a lot lately with the "haboobs" and monsoon storms.
The celestial weather is very active too where a Sun oppose Pluto is going on.

Mr Snippy and Mr Krink are in "haboob" free zones. The very last thing that could ever happen.
