Did ya know that Mauritania had a single line across the width of the country to serve an iron mine? Well it does that, and more.Watch this short vid from Nat Geo to learn about another railroad that exists out of sight, out of mind.

All of us may mark up. They're always eager to hire reliable people who can stand long hours, boring scenery, hot, dry weather, lousy wages, abusive bosses, and religious intolerance. The intolerance includes the death penalty for blasphemy against Islam. Religious police have sole discretion against offenders, and exact charges!

Check their website for further information.

Hadda dig for more info about who exactly runs the railroads kn Mauratania. The state government controls the single railroad, and owns the cargo which is hauled. Iron ore, from mines, across the country, to the ports where its loaded onto ships for export to China most likely.

But in 2010 the gov't. ordered a bunch of EMDs. Yep. SD-70s ACEs that could run in extremely high temps.

The state agency Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (National Mining and Industrial Company, SNIM) controls the railway line.

Indeed. Perhaps tR0LL's next (After LINCO boots him) will be Mauretania Railroad.

What a coincidence Uke I watched the same video Sunday evening as it was a "recommendation"
as something I would like to watch and it was...the train parts anyway. Looks like a couple USA
EMD SD-70ACE's enough to pull 17K ton trains across the desert. Another shot had what looked
like a trio of SD-40-2's.

I sincerely hope that doesn't happen.
