98 car train derailment

How could a shortline in Ohio operating at slow speeds derail 98 cars? I think the cars are on there sides. In TO one member said they dragged the whole train over a derail.

That would do it. You would think the traincrew would notice but if the air hoses stayed connected and no loss of air...keep on going. Very MIR like.
