The Weather Channel's Mike Bettes just happened to be at the right place in Naples FL
to capture the northern eye-wall of Hurricane Irma. I forgot the M's game and the Seahawks
game were on as I watched this report by Mike Bettes from the beginning as Mike seems to like
to talk when he's scared and the report starts off with the weather pretty blustery
and Mike keeps talking and the weather is getting worse by the minute and finally what Mike
and the viewing audience/me was waiting for...it to really get bad and it did. Bettes did his
whole report without "hanging-on to anything". He nearly got blown away several times but
regained balance. One gust nearly knocked him over and made his way back to the camera
location where he said "that one hurt". Mike Bettes also survived being in a tornado that sent
his vehicle into barrelrolls and survived. I think better understanding of the weather conditions
in Naples FL Sunday afternoon were made perfectly clear by Mike Bettes.

No rain for a couple weeks now. But the cold air has moved in, and with it, everybody who has wood heat, is burning lotsa logs, and waste in their stoves. We have this double whammy thing going on in the Valley now. Cold, smoky air. And freezing fog icing the roads, and sidewalks everywhere

Been under a Stagnant Air Advisory since last Friday and the whole state of WA
under burn bans going on 5-days that will be 8-days before the we get this huge high
pressure over the west coast to move to the east. Rain forecasted for Friday and maybe
6-7 days of that next. Its been cold like mid-20's cold at night.

And bring in that porcelain birdbath too.

The GPNW day is very close to 8hrs of daylight now with sunrise 7:49 AM and sunset at 4:16 PM.

A 4hr drive north for me if the traffic was 60mph all the way which there is zero chance of I might

make it to 100 Mile House or Williams Lake BC. In that part of BC there is so many trees that you

cant see sunrise or sunset except through trees. But in TW5K's neck of the "non-woods" I'm sure

its noticeable. Thanks for sharing your observations.

Air Stagnation Advisory ...AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY REMAINS IN ...
Severe Weather Alerts - Lebanon, OR

Air Stagnation Advisory
Air Stagnation Advisory in effect until Thursday, 2:00 PM PST. Source: U.S. National Weather Service

...AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM PST
THURSDAY...
...FREEZING FOG ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

The National Weather Service in Portland has cancelled the
Freezing Fog Advisory.

* FREEZING FOG ADVISORY...Fog is clearing and temperatures are
rising, so the Freezing Fog Advisory has been cancelled.

* AIR QUALITY...Air quality may deteriorate due to an extended
period of stagnant air conditions.

* TIMING...through Thursday afternoon.

* LOCATIONS...the southern Willamette Valley.

* IMPACTS...Limited ventilation may result in deteriorating air
quality continuing this week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Air Stagnation Advisory indicates that due to limited movement
of an air mass across the advisory area, pollution will increase
to dangerous levels. Persons with respiratory illness should
follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of
air pollution.

Friday morning its supposed to rain and give us all some needed fresh air.
11 days with no rain and freezing foggy nights/mornings for 11 mornings
meaning icy roads for every morning commute. 8 days of Air Stagnation
Advisories and burn bans the whole state meaning using your fireplace/wood stove/
pellet stove is ill advised and the "Catch-22" is "unless its your only source of heat".
Pretty easy to prove as the house was designed with a woodstove to heat the place
back in 1984-85. So by Friday everybody can rejoice in several ways...rain, fresh air,
and I can light my fire again to stay warm as natures "exhaust fans" kick back on.
Wednesdays Everett Wa area "Air Quality Index" hit a high for the week at "161"
which is unhealthy.

Not tu many on here getting a look at the  Geminid meteor showers, then.

I saw one last night for some reason there was a brief break in the cloud cover.

We also wacked a white tail deer, despite the usual lights off and frantic whistle attempts to help him.

I just do not like that sound at all.

WACK !
