I wonder if he liked hazelnut?

Carlos Sanchez, who for decades played the character Juan Valdez in a series of legendary Colombian coffee TV commercials, has died, according to reports Thursday.

Sanchez passed away at age 83 in late December of undisclosed causes in the city of Medellin, Colombia, the New York Times said.

He made the humble coffee farmer character Juan Valdez into one of the most successful fictional characters in advertising history since he started playing him in 1969.

I wasn't drinking coffee in the high skoolen years when Juan Valdez was doing his ads. My dad was the coffee drinker of the family
and it was all "ground canned coffee" Folgers/Yuban/MJB...MJB rings a bell. Columbian coffee probly still is the best cup of coffee on
earth. Not the ground coffee in a can from Columbia of course but some whole bean Columbian Supremo from a reliable coffee company.

"Snippy" wholeheartedly seconds this emotion and  notion as he sips from his second 4-cupper pot of the morning of fresh Colombian. The underlying wine-i-ness of Colombian is unmistakeable. This, thanks tu a real, live Web Sight SuperMod, internaçionål man of mystery and sofisticated netizen of The Internets.

Long-time head of Vanguard, the investment outfit, and 'index fund' manager, Jack (John C.) Bogle passes at 89.

Quite a story of an ordinary, regular Joe investor until he discovered a way for anybody to invest in the markets.

It's what I told my first ex wife tu do.. Put her stuff in a S&P index fund. She won't have time to beat or time the market.... My daughter relayed to me that her mom is grateful for that advice.... Not sure how to take that.. either she is grateful, or wants to let me know how good she has it. Neither here nor there....

  • "Snippy" became a disciple of Jack Bogle in 1990.
  • "Snippy" had been burned by high fees in the 1970s. (MassMutual, I'm talking about your complete bullshit, "Insurance is a great retirement investment." Fuck you.)
  • "Snippy" never let Merrill-Lynch rest about the disgraceful loads and fees they were charging in the BLET 401k. They are much more reasonable, but they ain't no Vanguard.
  • "Snippy" let his NS 401k money ride in Vanguard S&P 500 fund from mid-90's tu 2016. (Total Stock fund not available.)
  • "Snippy" blesses Jack Bogle for being there.
  • "Snippy still is a Boglehead in a mix of Total Stock, Ginnie Mae, and Target 2020.

May he rest in peace. For anyone interested, The Bogleheads Guide to Investing is generally regarded as the one book tu read if you're reading one book. He kept "A Random Walk Down Wall St." (1949) on his reading list forever.... But, the real beauty of being a Boglehead investor is that you don't have to really read or do shit. Dollar Cost Averaging, the nature of markets, and time works its magic.

Exactly, and that is when my first ex and I split. Worked out well for her for the reason you stated. I am going to get a few copies of the book to give to my grandkids to learn.
