2 PG&E workers survive fall into river, 2 others presumed dead

BELDEN Two PG&E crew members are presumed dead and two reportedly escaped serious injury after their vehicle plunged into the North Fork of the Feather River about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The accident occurred about two miles west of Belden, near the Rock Creek Bridge.
At about 4:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reported that the two survivors were in a patrol vehicle trying to keep warm.
One was reportedly unhurt, the other suffered a shoulder injury.
But two others who had been in the vehicle, a Ford F550 pickup, remained unaccounted for.
At around 6 p.m. a dive team went into the water for what they hoped would be a rescue, but was more likely to be a recovery of victims.
The divers were out of the river before 7 p.m., but it was unclear what they found.
The names of the crew members weren't immediately released by the CHP or PG&E.
PG&E spokesman Paul Moreno said he had no information on who the crew may have been, or what kind of work they may have been doing in the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
At about the time of the crash, the CHP received reports a large boulder had rolled into the middle of Highway 70 about four miles east of Storrie.
The pickup reportedly ended up 60 feet from the roadway edge, and about 25 feet under water.
Just got off the phone with Ed's widow. It was Nov 13 not Oct. She and their two daughters and dog were riding in a cabover camper. When It hit the water it disintegrated and left them in 41 degree water in the middle of the night in a terrible storm. Ed was a passenger in the cab of the truck. He never learned how to swim. He drowned. His body floated up two months later during a storm and was spotted as it went over rock creek dam by employees of PG&E. Errie!
