Basically I need a passport to enter Cannanada now which I dont
have one. OMG the traffic in Vancouver is the worst in North America.
No cause to head up to BC since the PGE/BCOL/BCR has been "CN'd".
Got lots of pix and video from trips in the 80's-90's. Really going
to miss hanging out in the Fraser River Canyon. It's just a surreal
place to watch trains.

Tripping ta"The Great White North" is the main reason that I keep my passport... Crossing north of Spokane, or Idaho, Montana...piece o' cake! Same thing returning...or from Sumas east!

But with BCOL gone, and CN'd... Less interesting watching trains. Like how many fugly GEunkers (GEvos, and Trash-9s) ya really wanna see?

At least the British Columbia Railway ran Alcos/ML-versions...

On August 5, 2005, a long CN train heading inland from Brackendale, derailed spilling 8 empty lumber flat cars and one tank car of sodium hydroxide. The tank car spilled its contents into the Cheakamus River, killing most of its fish.^[16]

On June 29, 2006, a diesel locomotive hauling one flatcar of lumber down the steep Pavilion grade 18 miles (29 km) north of Lillooet had its air brakes fail at Moran. The train gathered speed, until it derailed over a steep gravelly slope; two of the three crew members were killed.^[17] Due to inaction by transportation safety authorities in taking CN to task, the Teamsters have launched a civil suit on behalf of the victims' families against CN for damages resulting from criminal negligence.^[10]

Steamer, let me explain... If what I said about 'border Nazis' in general, I meant on THIS side. Only! Customs, and border control on YOUR side have always been pretty cool, and have always treated me as if I were like anybody else, and NEVER hassled me.

The assholes are all on this side. They see a guy with a bit of hair...or beard/moustache... They sense terrorist! Not tourist. And they'll pull ya outa line...search your car...question ya... In general, they make ya feel like scum, a criminal!

Real pigs! This is what we pay taxes for... Not ta mention the jerks who complain about Canadians who shop here... They're stupider than anybody!

Money is money. Who cares if somebody from Vancouver, Hope, Penticton...or Chilliwack comes across for the day, returns after a few hours of shopping...because they can't find what they need in Canaada, but is available across the border here?

I have no problem, and welcome the traffic! Economics 101. Ya don't hafta be a genious ta figure that out! If I were a 'merchant,' business owner...whatever, near the border, I'd hang a big sign out in front of my store sayin' "WELCOME!" Everything on sale! All currency accepted! US, Candaian, Euros, Rubles, Yuan, Yen...credit cards...

Booze? Summit Eleven ended excessive drinking for yers truly. A couple beers...I'm good! But...if we held a summit in Canada... A mighty big IF...we'd have maybe three, or four join us!

I'd love ta see everybody...or as many as possible, of our membership attend SummiThirteen 2013... (Is that redundant?)

In any case SummiThirteen (Next year-2013) will feature a "Brian/Brain" jacket for all attendees/summiteers. We're hoping to have our logo (The hellbound train) silkscreened across the back...with your Brain(less) name embroidered on the phront!

Plus...and this will be a repeat from 2008: Troll in a cage! Yep... Back by popular demand, *"The Caged Troll poking man!" Sharp sticks will be available. Small stones are 50 cents apiece, but must be thrown from at least 25 feet from the cage... Poking may be suspended at any time however!

I have been to Point Roberts a few times, nice place. There is a really good pub there that I can't seem to remember the name of. Uke, we don't have border Nazi's only you guys do. Despite the fact that Canadians are responsible for 38-45 % of the Bellingham economy they still hassle us

On return, we stayed in Duluth and watched the boats. Good place to do this was the Lake Superior Inn, over by the bridge. Price was right too, since we look old and poor. Even better was a restaurant named Pickwick,s, in downtown Daloot. Old mom and pop kinda place--about 100 years old. Best danged corn off the cob I've ever had. About a mile north of the lift bridge. biggrin

SummiTen was in Daloot... Lotsa phun tu! Buckethead sent a small child ta the hospital emergency room... Kicked the poor little kid right in his mug... Used a size 14 Red Wing steel toed boot, with a Vibram Lugged sole!

Parents have a lawsuit pending in Daloot superior court. No further details, as this is an ongoing suit. However all indications are that the boot in the face was alloted because Bucket was 'annoyed by the little snot nosed...'
