A man claiming to be a pastor apparently tried to stiff a waiter on a tip, explaining that his work for God absolved him of having to leave one.

A photo of the receipt, posted to Reddit.com, shows a bill for $34.93 with an automatic 18 percent gratuity (or $6.29) added above a blank space for an additional tip.

"I give God 10%," the diner wrote on the receipt, scratching out the automatic tip. "Why do you get 18?" He then wrote "Pastor" above his signature, and an emphatic "0" where the additional tip would be. (The automatic gratuity, however, had already been added to the total.)

The Reddit user who submitted the image explained in the comments section that the receipt was part of a total bill for a party of 20, which is why the gratuity was automatically added.

Parties up to eight ... may tip whatever theyd like, but larger parties receive an automatic gratuity," the server wrote. "Its in the computer, its not something I do.

The server added: They had no problem with my service, and told me I was great. They just didnt want to pay when the time came.

Poor Uke. He would have had to figure if that damned 18% had been figured on the total or on the pre-tax amount.

Something smells rotten in denmark.

If the tip was already figured into the $34.93 total, why is it listed below that total?

Are you supposed to add it up with the additional tip so as to pay the $6.29 a second time?

$6.29 is 18% of 34.93........ If the $34.93 was the bill with the tip automatically added, it dont figure cause 34.93 minus 6.29 is 28.64

and 18% of that is $5.15.

So, it goes that the tip was automatically generated but it was NOT figured into the total of $34.93.

The jerk scratched out the suggested tip and put a zero down. There was NO tip paid.

Wonder what he would do if he passed the plate during sunday services and it came back with no money

 just slips of paper with a zero pencilled in?

A hasty comment over a large gratuity went viral and cost a waitress her job.
It happened at an Applebees in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Apparently an automatic 18 percent gratuity was added to the bill since there were more than eight people in the
party. Pastor Alois Bell wrote on the receipt, I give God 10% why do you get 18?
Yahoo.com reports the server, Chelsea Welch, snapped a photo of the receipt from another server and uploaded
it to Reddit.
Welch told Consumerist.com she thought the note was insulting but also comical. Bell called the restaurant to complain and said the ensuing controversy had ruined her reputation. Welch said she isnt buying Bells embarrassment and was surprised she was fired because theres nothing in the handbook specifically about this type of behavior.

 Pastor Alois Bell seems unaware that Gawd has no need for money.

There is an endless stream of money coming to Gawd and since Gawd has

no need for money, the money is used for other purposes. Like

keeping one of the greatest stories ever "alive".
