Time to fill up the Jetta...all the way to the top. I mentioned I haven't

logged that many miles at the wheel in the last 5 years. Well now

that the Jetta is in good running condition I was thinking "trips" are

possible once again. But then again when I see the "gas price thermometer"

rising every time I pass the gas station, it natually makes you want to

abort some senseless driving miles.

Gotta get the ol' Supra out of Seattle ASAP! Just got the bill for tabs, renewal, AND the bastards asked me ta replace the plates, which I did a mere two years ago! now get this, $117.75! for ONE year! The registration/tabs expire March 31st. I may just drive down and park it at my 'new' house in Albany (yes I made an offer), and park it in the driveway... But Washington won't get another penny outa me for their ridiculous 47 cent a gallon gasoline tax! there's your fuckin' real live highway robbery if ever there was!

And the pricks in the state's legislature wanna raise it by another dime! Get the fuck outa here! So FIFTY-SEVEN cents of every gallon will be taxes! meanwhile the state's roads, highways, and the interstates are falling apart! And let's not talk about the state's biggest city...Seattle!

I never see a road crew anywhere, working on a street, either patching a pothole, or repaving a section! Not a one. But they need more money. They've floated this one lately...a meter ta track how many miles ya drive, then charge ya 'road-use' fees based on your daily trips ta the market, the bank, gas station, etc.

All this shit designed ta get people aboard a shitty, 'mass-transit' system that costs too much ta run, and they're talking about raising fares ta cover costs, or make it 'self-sustaining'!
I don't know... None of this appeals ta me, or anyone else I know!

Then again... Oregon may be thinking of the same things ta raise revenue for transportation projects too. But I won't know that until I relocate my ass!

The roundhouse kept me going for 20+ years! I wore a pedometer as a demo thing for two weeks a few years back. The safety rep figured out that I was walking about twelve miles every five days! That surprised the hell outa me. I knew some days I'd be busy putting out ;brush-fires' all over the place, from the load box, ta the test-out track, ta Balmer Yard...then back ta the drop table ta sort some youngsters out... Then back ta the service track...

Now? I'm just lazing most of the time! And napping in the middle of the day tu! But I digress...

Workin' down there had that effect on ya... Ya never minded bein' busy 'cause before ya knew it, the shift was over! I kept log books of all the shit I did...unit numbers, jobs, and work slips...

Some days I'd be assigned one job, and they'd pull me before I was finished ta go help somebody else finish up a unit, or help 'em outbound a train, or troubleshoot air brake problems, or something else. Some shifts there'd be six jobs on my slip. A few times I took exception ta why they put all that on me...

I like ta think it was 'cause I'd get shit out, and pulling again. I think it was because I was a fuckin' mule... Stubborn. And never one ta give up...so they used me...and abused me!

Think of all the dough you saved walking to work, Uke, and you'll be good to go, thinking of spending your RRB dough to make your trips out of state. Drive conservatively for maximum gas mileage, this means using all the gears. TU*

*Perhaps some will see it wrong but Tu lives on here and I don't think it chintzy to do so. Just in case.
