Seattle.......................BOOM!!!

An explosion from a firecracker inside a moving Jeep blew off the driver's hand early Saturday and scattered debris over half a block, prompting initial fears over the man's intent, police and neighbors said. Witnesses saw a flash of light from inside the vehicle, a red Jeep with a gray top, as it drove down a residential street in north Spokane, police said. Donald Wilkes, 61, said the blast rattled his house and woke up everyone inside. He initially thought someone had crashed into his parked truck, and when he ran outside he found the street filled with smoke and the Jeep stopped just against his 6-foot-tall cedar fence. "I looked around for something that got hit, but there was nothing," Wilkes said. "My son reached in to pull the keys out of the ignition and make sure he didn't go anywhere, and that's when we saw his hand was missing. It blew it right off at his wrist - they found part of it half a block away."

Wilkes' son, 30-year-old Nicholas, and another neighbor applied a tourniquet to the man's left arm. The man was stocky, estimated at about 28 to 30 years old, and coherent. But he wouldn't answer questions about what he had been doing, Wilkes said."All he did was look at my son and say, 'Oh God, oh God.' He looked like he was going to pass out," Wilkes said. "My main concern was why he was driving around my neighborhood at 1 in the morning with an explosive device."

The explosion blew out several of the Jeep's windows, knocked off its dashboard and splattered blood all over the driver's side door, he said.Police and medics arrived within minutes and applied further tourniquets, then brought the man to a hospital, where staff credited the first aid with saving his life.Officers cordoned off streets in the neighborhood and urged Wilkes' family to leave, but Wilkes, who has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years, said the bedrooms are on the other side of the house so they eventually just went back to bed.

A bomb squad used a robot to find additional explosives in the Jeep and remained on scene until about 7 a.m. defusing them, said Spokane Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms took over after that and would ultimately determine whether criminal charges would be filed.otton called it an isolated incident and said there was no further threat to the community.Authorities eventually determined the explosion was caused by an M-1000 firecracker, Cotton said.

An M-1000 is a cylindrical firework, sometimes sold in boxes promising "maximum blast, super loud."

M-1000 around here is equal to a full stick of Dynamite, a lot more than an M-80's you can get in Virginia before July 4. M-80 is a quarter stick of dynamite...still nothing to get clumsy with.

After the Seahawks win over the 49'rs, it was like the 4th of July for
about 10-15 minutes as a lot of people still keep a reserve of fireworks
for any occasion and they got one and then another one. The Tulalip
Indian Reservation is the "go to place" for fireworks it seems year
round now as I dont know where else one would go buy some.
I'm past needing to "blow-up stuff". I watch other people blow-up stuff
over the years just on the other side of the tall Cottonwoods.
The surrounding hood puts on a good show every year and the
Seahawks got their "blasts in the night" just like July 4, Jan 1...
and now the last blasts were for "Super Bowl Champs".
Football season is finally over. So their shouldnt be any need for
a fireworks celebration until July 4th...wow.

I dont know how to say it but I'm glad football season is over.
This fan thing in Seattle and the GPNW has really evolved into
a "Monster". The fan base is vocal to the point of setting new
Guiness World records for noise twice after KC grabbed the
title the next week and Seattle got it back again. Yes the
Seattle Seahawks have the fan base in place that has the
lungs and mental thought to get Seattle back to a couple
more Super Bowls.

Flat screen addicted couch bound sports fans here are now focused on the Winter Olympics.

A little background anxiety fearing something could go boom over there should fuel and escalate

the junk food sales for the multinational high carb food giants.

That avatard has to be a self-portrait. The "2014 (MIR) Winter Olympics
in Russia" got underway Friday American time and I got to say that was
one helluva of an opening. Think its the first time I've seen live holographic
light creations in thin air and some unbelievable lights shining down on
the "surface" of the stadium too created some beyond 2014 capabilities.
Hopefully you recorded this on your DVR as this is a keeper...only I
dint record it...but I'll remember it until I forget.
