...but since arriving back at the ranch, I've been trying ta update myself. I was in Oregon since last Thursday. Drove back taday...

The mudslide that took out a good portion of the rural community of Oso, in Snohomish County has been on every newspaper in the GPNW since Sunday, the day after it hit! Saturday morn when the slide happened, not one person was prepared for such an event, or its aftermath.

The pics can never fully explain, but a few may help clarify the mystery of how it happened.

The area weather rain predicted for the next couple days. That makes the situation on the ground worse than it already could be.

Still 90-100 people buried in basically liquid concrete and every kind of
debris you can imagine. Thats a tough bunch involved with tying to
find these 100 bodies out there yet. The Seattle media have been
giving priority attention to this story thats soon to be a week old.
The devastation here is like "total". One square mile of complete
devastation.

More, but the list of those classified as missing has dipped to about 30, from previous numbers. That's a good thing, but there's a great deal of work still ahead.

I'm pretty sure there wont be a sense to rebuild Oso. Think most have
taken the hint. A small town in WA that just got "erased" by mud.

Officials from Snohomish County Sheriffs Dept., and the coroner, medical dept's. and other agencies are reasonably certain that the very last victim of the Oso Mudslide has been found.

Well that will be big in final closure of this huge event. The lawsuits
and other shit will continue for years to come but since the area
is now devoid of any human remains, the state and everybody
else can get to work on restoring SR 530 to what it was and
Arlington and Darrington have that vital link back up to logging
trucks doing 55mph through there. What a hellish detour the
residents and storekeeps of Darrington went through to keep supplies
coming into town for 3-months.
