Bad news for Veterans there

Most every resident of this 'home' is disabled, and quite a few are just marking time, counting the days till the reaper shows up. It's really sad when one of your own loses his cool, and comes back with a gun, over some perceived wrong. Perhaps one of the staff brushed him off, or a doc refused ta renew his meds. Could be anything. But it ain't a little thing whenrhere's a shooter inside, and he's pissed off...

Law enforcement have had NO contact at all with this individual who's still holed up, with at least three hostages. This all started at roughly 1020, or 1030 this morning. Last report, on my feeder showed a 'news conference' during which law enforcement said they still had no word from this 'shooter' but many law people had been seen leaving the scene.

They're all dead. No good guy with a gun, obviously.

He was a client there until he left two weeks ago.

Maybe he uttered threats and was shown the door ?

Mental health issues are everywhere these days. no

Right now...ah fuck it. I gotta say this; I'm more sad than pissed, although as a Veteran with 'issues', including all the well known cliched PTSD symptoms; depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, nightmares, fear of unknown 'entities' out there/paranoia... Take your pick!

I've been carrying this shit for fifty years (50) years. Been through a couple in-patient session 'inside' VA hospital psych wards too. After one stay, and voluntarily joining a VN combat Vets group which met at the hospital itself, all the guys were carrying similar baggage as me. We had our own psychologist who facilitated the group's weekly meet.

In the time (2003-2015) that I was part of the group, I heard horror stories that made ashamed of what sent me to the VA in the first place. During my tenure in that group, which started at the time with maybe twelve, fourteen guys. Of the originals I met, two took themselves out.

Two others died of weird cancers. Two more just disappeared. Our guy Scott Michael, never heard a word of their fates.

Okay long story short... Viet Vets at least from my own experience kill themselves, maybe their own immediate family, rather than their doctors, care-givers, volunteers... My personal assessment of course

I don't know what kinda demons were driving this guy, but I've had some that put me into the hospital after holding a .38 to my temple. I never wanted to kill anyone else. Just me. Just me. Why? Pay back. Punishment for sins committed 'just doing my job'!

One of the guys in the group told me this little gem of wisdom. "Ya won't be forgiven by a god that you don't know one way or another. You can't expect it,so ya gotta do it yourself. Forgive yourself, the sooner ya do the easier the future will be!" Not his exact words but close enough.

Apologies to all. Ineeded to get that outa my head. This guy, I guess he proved a point
