Snippy went down to the beach for the 0439 launch from Wallop's Island.

Wasn't going to take any pictures because it's one of those 'you had to be there' things.

But.... it appeared that the second stage ignited right above my head. It probably was a hundred miles away. Who knows. I didn't take a picture of the white hot bright second stage. But, by the time I got back to the car, the evidence was in the sky.

That's pretty cool. Is that ring that slowly widened or did a piece fly around in a circle.

Ring slowly widened. It could have been the first stage fizzling out in a circle after getting blown away by second stage ignition. But, when I first saw it, I thought like Mr. The Krink, "A big ol' smoke ring... " caused by second stage ignition. It went from that orange first stage burn to a white, white, white hawt mega-monster-moving-Venus look real quick.

I can only imagine what a Space Shuttle or Saturn 5 launch from Cape Canaveral would have been like.

I was lucky enough as a kid to live up and across the Mississippi River from the Michoud facility where they built Saturn 5, and put them on barges. Little Snippy skül kid got to tour the facility. They tested the big fuckers near Gulfport, MS. at Bay St. Louis. The original tests they blew out windows miles away.

I have a cousin living in FL and he's been to several launchings at Cape Canaveral
and taken pictures. They've been spectacular pictures. Its like if you are there with
a decent camera your are "going" to get some great pictures. I never thought of watching
rocket launches...being there. Obviously its a rush.

Rocket propulsion. Engines producing 42 thousand horsepower kicks Saturn off the launch pad, and into space!

Uke ove comparisons between piston type engines, and internal combustion (rocket) engines. As a result, Uke has absorbed much knowledge.

Camera E-8 had special meaning to "Snippy".
Those fuckers would roll.
