2 men are shot in N. Phila. tussle

1 TWO MEN ARE SHOT

IN N. PHILA. TUSSLE

Two men were clinging to life after they allegedly got into an argument early yesterday and struggled over a gun in a North Philadelphia house.

The incident happened about 1:22 a.m. on 25th Street near Norris, police said. During the argument, a 46-year-old man who lives in the home allegedly shot a 44-year-old man in the chest. The wounded man tried to wrestle away the gun, which went off and struck the first man in the eye, police spokeswoman Jillian Russell said. Both victims were in critical condition at Temple University Hospital. Charges are pending.

2 PRO WRESTLER IS SOUGHT

IN S. JERSEY BANK HEIST

Authorities in South Jersey are looking for a professional wrestler who is believed to have robbed a Collingswood bank.

Nicholas Wilson, 30, whose last known address was in Camden, allegedly stole about $3,000 from a PNC Bank branch on Haddon Avenue on Dec. 22. Authorities say Wilson handed a teller a note claiming he would shoot her if she didn't give him money. Wilson has wrestled as "Nick Gage" for Philadelphia-based Combat Zone Wrestling.

ELSEWHERE: SEX-TAPE UPSHOT

A former commissioner in central Pennsylvania's Cumberland County faces electronic monitoring, fines and community service after being sentenced for hiring prostitutes and secretly taping men having sex in his home.

Bruce Barclay, 51, received five years of intermediate punishment, which is similar to probation, his attorney, Matt Gover, said yesterday. He'll spend the first nine months on electronic monitoring.

Barclay was convicted last month on charges of unlawful use of a computer, unlawful duplication, invasion of privacy and patronizing prostitutes.

Gover says Barclay apologized in court and is eager to put the matter behind him.

Barclay resigned from office in April 2008 after a man who later recanted told police that Barclay had raped him.

Hell it's only 2308 here, so your total gotta be at least 310 by now. Which means either ya start over because it is a new year.

Two Thousand-eleven. So give us the tally for 2010... Then start another hobby, and leave the murders alone! Maybe build a ship model in a bottle, or hey...bird watching is a good way ta meet chicks... Never mind... You got a family and shit.

Maybe try church, or synagogue... There's always photography. Or flower arranging. Yeah. Flower arranging. Perfect.

Two Philadelphia police officers wounded in shoot-out

Two Philadelphia police officers were wounded and a gunman was killed in a shoot-out that erupted during a traffic stop Friday night in West Philadelphia, authorities said.

Officer Adam O'Donnell was shot in the chest about 8 in the Cobbs Creek section and was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Originally listed in stable condition, he was released before 11.

His partner, Ivan Centeno, was grazed by a bullet and was also treated and released.

Police said the officers saw a green minivan run a red light at 57th and Spruce Streets, and when they tried to stop it, the driver refused to pull over.

The driver led them on a chase before stopping near Walnut and Frazier Streets, police said. The officers approached the van from both sides and the person inside began shooting. The officers returned fire and the driver was killed, police said.

Investigators did not release the name of the shooter. The minivan remained on Walnut late Friday as investigators looked for evidence. Other officers gathered at the hospital, awaiting news of their wounded colleagues, until learning the two had been released.

"The suspect, without any warning, opened fire and struck O'Donnell in the stomach," Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said outside the hospital, according to Fox29 News. "Fortunately, he was wearing his bulletproof vest."

Ramsey and Mayor Nutter visited the officers at the hospital.

"This has got to stop," Nutter said. Stopping "attacks on citizens and on the Philadelphia Police Department [is] our No. 1 priority in increasing safety in the city."

This was another example of Kevlar vests helping to save lives.

On Dec. 22, a Kevlar vest and a helmet may have saved the lives of two officers shot before dawn by a man who then barricaded himself in a basement in Summerdale, police said. The man was Nasuil Martinez, wanted in the Dec. 10 shooting of an officer.

During that episode, Sgt. Christopher Binns, a 21-year veteran of the department, was shot with a .45-caliber handgun on the left side of his helmet, a blow that made a dent. Another shot hit Officer Francis Whalen, a 12-year veteran, directly on the ceramic plate inside his vest.

The protective gear deflected the bullets, and neither officer was injured, which Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross called "nothing short of miraculous."

"Either one of these shots would have taken a life, without question," Ross said at a news conference on Dec. 22, standing beside the protective gear worn by the officers. "We are just so thankful."

Bank Robbing Wrestler Surrenders To New Jersey Police

December 31, 2010 5:44 PM

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in southern New Jersey say a professional wrestler suspected of robbing a Collingswood bank has turned himself in.

Bail was set at $150,000 cash for 30-year-old Nicholas Wilson, who was charged with robbery. He surrendered to Collingswood police on Friday, one day after authorities identified him as a suspect in the holdup.

Camden County prosecutors say Wilson allegedly stole about $3,000 from the PNC Bank on Dec. 22. Authorities say Wilson handed a teller a note claiming he would shoot her if she didnt give him money.

Wilson, who was being held in the county jail, has wrestled as Nick Gage for Philadelphia-based Combat Zone Wrestling.

It was not known Friday night if Wilson had retained an attorney.
